DIY reclaimed wood furniture

this post is exciting for me and i've been planning it for a while.
i was inspired to build my own bench after realizing the giant ikea cube housing my tv, books and various randoms was way too large for my small apartment. i knew i wanted a simple bench but the pieces i found were out of my price range.
after a little online research...my idea was coming to life.
boards and beams, in fairfield, new jersey uses reclaimed and found wood to custom build unique pieces for the home. i stopped by one afternoon and was helped by the owner, steve. he had a few raw slabs ready for me to see and i picked a piece of walnut that matched my dimensions.
a few days later i picked up the fabricated piece. steve did such a great job and it turned out better than i had imagined.
i ordered the legs for the bench from hairpinlegs.com. these metal legs look great because of their simple industrial design. once i found everything i needed, assembly was easy and my living room feels much larger and more like me with this smaller unique piece.

the cords and wires will soon be wrapped
in a natural twine to help disguise them

the baskets below help organize and hide
my magazines and dvds

  2. sure thing!
just call ahead and get an idea of pricing for the size piece you need.
and the legs shipped really fast and come in several different heights.
be sure to show me if you make one! (links are above)
